A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

New exhaust advice

My old stock exhaust is on its last legs. My 78 gs1000 is set up as a long distance iron butt bike, and I want to replace the system with long and quiet mufflers.
Long ones are needed to clear the vetter bags, and ensure that the fumes do not enter the calm air behind the fairing. Quiet is very important on long rides.

I plan to cut the old mufflers off, and install new ones slip on style. Way easier to work with, and future changes are much easier without having to work with long and unwieldy pieces. I am looking for 4 into 2 mufflers suitable for this application. Even Harley pipes-some of them seem very quiet:D and long enough. Ones that don't require a radical re-tune would be a bonus. Anyone know the models for Harley pipes?

I have seen the JC Whitney models, but I am looking for better quality. Function trumps looks here. Ideas are welcome.

Also, I will have for sale on this site a set of original, brand new pristine Alphabet mufflers. Perfect chrome, original wrapping. Intended to go with their headers.I didn't want to cut them, and anyway, their pipe layout works best with their own headers.

I will do a proper ad when I figure out how to post photos.

Anyone interested, PM me. First chance to GSR members

Harley take off's are usually a good price & their chrome is usually to a high standard... any dealerships near you?

www.photobucket.com for pics. Go there. Make an account, public one. Then upload your photos to it. Once you have uploaded them copy (ctrl C) the IMG code which is in the box below (says for message boards I think) & then paste (ctrl V) into the reply box here & Bob is your mother's brother... :)
