Is there any differences between a gs650g frame and a gs650L frame?? Also, is there any major changes in the wiring harnesses on the 650s?

I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
First: A 650L is really a 650GL (shaft drive), right?
While the engine and drive train is same between 650G and 650GL, there will be diffence in the frames. What diferences I can think of (based on style difference of G and GL):
- tank mounting
- steeringneck angle
- seat mounting
- side cover opening and side cover mounting
- tail end.
SO, all the parts from a 650G will not fit on a 650GL frame.
(Again, I say that base on what I know about the G being different than a GL. I never had each of the frames sitting next to each other to compare.)
The engine and drive train will swap.
Now maybe in your "project" you are hacking up enough and not useing stock tank and seat and such... so..... maybe you are only mostly concerned about if engine and drive train will swap from a G frame to a GL frame, and most everthing else is gonna be hacked..... er, um, customized.

Electrically, I think the G and GL are one for one the same as far as having the same componets and devices, but are some general differences like the L bars are wider and longer and the tail light mounted further back, things like that where the lengths involved may be different.
And the GL head light is lot smaller than a G, I know on the G there is lots of connectors stuffed into the headlight shell and I cant image that would fit in a GL headlight shell. SOmeone else will have to say about that.

Yeah, I'm just hacking it up so it doesn't really matter. Thanks, though.
The G and L are very different.
The G has a better seat, twin disc front brake, 17" rear rim, larger gas tank, no gas gauge, better E style headlight and bucket, nicer directionals, plastic fenders, different set of clocks...
Frames are different, plastics are different. The L is a smaller (shorter) bike. None of the G parts fit on the L (I tried).
The G is the better bike for long distance riding with the increased range and more comfortable suspension...
But if I want to go for a long ride, I'm going to take my preferred G... My ZG1400
Motors, carbs, air box assembly, battery, ignition, rear brakes, differentials, swing arm and center stands are the same.

Haha, I'm just kidding. The gs650g that I have had part of the frame hacked off from a previous owner. I found another frame and was just making sure. That's all. I have a hard time navigating through the the info on this site. I appreciate all the help, gentlemen.
