A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I agree with red, sounds like a design flaw.

I am a ford technician and some of these things the engineers come up with. If they live their life the way they design you would think they would be peeing on their legs saying it was the proper draining path and such... Most of the time i have talked to an engineer they ask me what my thoughts are on it when i was calling them for theirs.

There are good engineers, and there are bad ones. And even good people make mistakes now and again. Design flaws tend to be visible since they occur on every part produced; like living in a glass house as they say.

Asking an experienced technician what they are seeing in the real world is the sign of a good engineer - communication is a tool that should be used. It would be far worse for the engineer to sit behind his cad screen and block out everything else.

My question about being in marketing was a joke. Those guys (in my company anyway) like to spin data. I thought it was a good spin that you turned this into something to prevent hydrolock. We can debate if it would or not (I doubt it), but it was good spin nevertheless.

True on all counts.

yeah i guess your right but the engineers i am talking about are hotline engineers that are supposed to help you when you have no clue whats going on with the concern. But either way we need them since i wouldnt want to be the one designing the car

Automobiles have become quite complex. There are over 50 uProcessors, 100 sensors, and 30 electrical subsystems in a mid-sized car.

Very advanced tools are now a requirement to allow engineers to integrate these systems. You not only need to look at nominal operating conditions, but worst case, stress, and fault conditions. During power up scenarios electronic systems can exhibit strange behavior (as evidenced by this example). Lock out circuitry should be used to keep the outputs from being enabled before the internal electronics have a chance to reset.

When these devices were designed they likely did it without the aid of circuit design tools and never anticipated this scenatio. I'm not passing judgement, just stating what is most probable (IMHO that is).

Or maybe they did it on purpose thinking it was funny to zap everyone once they had our money.

What car company are we talking about?

That's the assumption I'm operating under.
High performance... even when you don't want it.

I guess you learn something everyday. My Kaw 900 does the same thing, I never noticed it until I installed the Dyna-S. Now its all making sense, and I didn't have to burn the weed with granny.
