A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Out of WD 40

I took the tank that i bashed from the marroon 78 1000C off and drained the fuel and washed it out with several doses of Dawn dish soap. I didnt have any WD 40 to fog it with to stave off any flash rust. all i really had was quart of brake fluid so i sloshed that around in there. Then i thought...wonder is that stuf is corrosive to the bare meatl in a tank? Any insights??? If so i need to know before i send all this stuff off to Larry for paint.

Its all Fed up now...thus its going out to be repainted...LMAO

If brake fluid was corrosive then there would be high sales of brake lines.
Not sure how you get rust inside a caliper its should be anaerobic I suppose the Oxygen in absorbed water that is to blame.

It eats paint but I think that is a whole different chemical reaction going on.

Jeepster...Brake fluis is both an oily based coating AND after long periods of it not being changed and it breaks down it also becomes an attractant and absorber of moisure...form rain or just humidity in the air.

Brake fluid is designed to absorb water. I'd get it out of the tank since it will hold moisture close to the metal.

Ed...I needed a RIGHT NOW temp solution..maybe have to rinse it again and fog the heck out ofmitm with WD tomoorw when i can get a new can

chuck, Do you have some rubbing alcohol? That absorbs water and will help dry the tank. Dry it out and splash a little oil inside.

I am sending it to Larry so what i did was drain and dish soap washing and shook all the water out the petcock hole. Then i let it sit in the sun for about 1/2 hr and at 103 and sweltering hot it dont take long for it to be dry inside...trust me.
