DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys I was wondering where or can you just get the filters for the gs1100e petcock. I see the complete one on ebay and other sites, but I never see just the filter?

The filter cannot be bought separately as far as I know. If you're still on the original petcock, it's probably time for a new one anyway. Age causes them to leak and fill your crankcase when gas when you least expect it.

I am in the middle of a motor rebuild and I am in a holding pattern waiting on parts so I started looking at stuff. I knew the petcock had a filter, but there was a inline filter and I could see a little rust in it. So I decided to check the one in the tank and it is gone. I can tell the petcock has been removed before. I guess it was damage or something. So the previous owner removed it. The petcock works fine. I just want to put a filter back in it. I guess I will replace the whole thing after I flush the tank for rust. Thanks Eil

Keep in mind that the "petcock filter" is also what determines your REServe capacity. :-k

There is a tube that goes up one side of the filter. That is where it normally draws fuel. When the level in the tank gets below that, you move the lever and it draws from the bottom of the "filter".

After you replace your petcock, you should probably also get rid of your inline filter. Most of them are too restrictive for motorcycle use and cause problems.

.

Yes, just get new petcock ( $60) and ditch the inline filter. Heed the words of bwringer....

"13) Install new petcock, since I'm going to head to the roof with a rifle if I have to read about yet another #2 plug fouling and failed hillbilly attempts to rebuild the petcock and/or deny there's a problem."

I've never had the slightest trouble with inline filters, but I always fit a decent sized one. The daft little ones that are sold for m'cycle use are as much good as t1ts on a bull.
