I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

in the process of rebuilding the petcock and am in need of the filter. Does anyone know of where to get the filter? Already got the rebuild kit for the diaphragm just need the filter

Not sure they are available separately.

Good luck with the rebuild kit. Overall, the success rate seems to be about 10-15% on them.

Might have been better off just getting a new petcock.

Suzuki part number 44300-45372, it is $60.71 from Boulevard Suzuki.

.

As usual, Steve is giving you great advice.

I would either go for a stock replacement fuel valve, or a Pingel, rather than the rebuild kit.

would any of you know if the petcock exit was 1/4'' or 3/8'' ?

If you are speaking of the fuel nipple, neither. It is metric, 7mm IIRC (If I Recall Correctly, for you Steve).

Thank you, and, yes, you do.

If you get a Pingel you get 3/8" and use the adapter or drill your own bung.

Ok, this is starting to go off the rails a bit :P

Are all the petcocks on these GSs the same as far as bolt patterns go? I apparently have the "dreaded 80" switch on mine and want to upgrade (I rebuilt it about a year and a half or two years ago and it's already caput). Also, should I stay with the diaphragm or get a gravity fed one?

No, they are not all the same. They are all gravity feed. Stock has a vacuum port, the Pingel does not.

I get that this thread is a couple years old. Is the part number stated for a new petcock interchangeable with 44300-45011 which is the part number for a '78 750E? The price difference is $20. Thanks.

I find that 5/16 inch fuel line works nicely with the 7mm bung. You should use a clamp as it will be on the loose side.

As for the original question. If you can't source that filter be sure and use a quality inline filter. If your tank is clean and not filled with rust you should do fine with an inline. I have thought about using something like old panty hose secured with a zip tie but I don't know how panty hose would hold up in the presence of gasoline.

The consensus I am getting from searches is to replace the whole thing instead of rebuilding. Mine came in a bag, in a tote full of parts and is missing the filter... I have no idea if it is original or replaced at one time. I will take a closer look for part# / manufacturer.
So I have a couple questions...

1. Is the part number you referenced interchangeable with 44300-45011 which fits a '78 750E? Can it be made to fit? What are the differences / adaptations?

2. Is there a way to test off the bike / salvage or does the missing filter make it worthless?

The petcock for the '78 is +$80.00 + shipping so I am looking for cheaper solutions. There are several parts to upgrade and replace on this bike and I am trying to fix what I have as much as possible. Thank you in advance for your help!

The correct metric size fits perfectly, no silly clamps required. Suzuki still sells it, as do Volvo, BMW, VW and all of the other european cars.
