A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Please help :(

Fixed thanks to you wonderful people :)

Fixed thanks to you wonderful people :)

:D Fixed thanks so much to you all  How I fixed it:

Took tank off again (seven hundereth time lol) set on the bench and sucked on the vacumn line, gas flowed freely :) Put back on the bike, still no go.

Took the vacumn line off the petcock, sucked on it with my mouth while cranking it over, FIRED RIGHT UP.

Hooked vacumn line back up, started it 3 times NP. ITS FIXED

I want to thank all of you, how in the world would I have figured out to pull a vacumn line off and suck on it to fix it, LOL.

I am so happy, fixed the oil leak, changed valve cover gasket, cam seals, and changed spark plugs for 40 BUCKS, thanks to you guys and EBAY, lol.

I do have one more question please,

When I had the tank off, I sucked on the vacumn line and the fuel flowed no matter where the screw in the petcock was turned. I dont understand what the screw does, it didnt let the fuel flow without vacumn in any position, which is what I would assume is what is supposed to happen in prime mode. So does anyone know for sure which way the screw should be turned for normal operation? Seems weird to me there are no markings on the petcock to tell you.

Thanks again so much, Jerry

This is the petcock I suspect you have. The brass screw is used to set in prime mode. It is in run mode currently, which is done by turning the screw clockwise until it stops.

nope

nope

nope, tyvm for taking the time to take the picture charlie but that's not what I have. Mine has no lever at all and just a tiny inset screw where the lever should be. I wish I had a camera or I would take a pic and post it. From what I hear here it is only found on the 1980 model. I got her goin, the petcock works np no matter where I turn the screw, the petcock doesn't stick down hardly at all from the tank and has no marks or writing on it to determine prime, on, or off and no matter where I turn the screw it doesnt change a thing. I am just wondering if it even matters where the screw is. Thanks again for the help, Jerry

Since you took the time to take a picture of your petcock Charlie, I borrowed a camera and took one of this pos. Here is the dreaded 1980 petcock your glad you dont have ;)

I've never seen that one, but that dosen't mean much. I'm glad you got it going. We learn from those "Oh Sh*t!" moments.

Thats the same tap as on my GS1000E from 1981. A PITA if you ask me. By the way you've got it on prime in that position than run which is horizontal, but hey were not splitting hairs here.

Sounds like you need a new tap.....
