I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Priming carbs, spinning starter and won't shift

Let's solve one problem at a time. Are you sure you connected the fuel line to the correct place on the carbs?

Air locked??? Find a new neighbor!!;)

Seriously, you need to use the prime function of your petcock to fill the bowls. If they still wont fill then verify you're getting gas directly from the petcock with it in prime. If not, check to see if you have enough gas in the tank. That actually would be the first check. One gallon wont cut it. If it's still a no go from the petcock then change the petcock.

Yeah that is a new one "air locked" only way they could be air locked if you sealed up the breather tubes and such.

Okay, "air locked" is gonna be used from now on for any reason gas isn't getting into the carbs. I so decree!

The bag was connected to the tee btwn 2 and 3. I just sprayed some carb cleaner in there to see if it was blocked and it seems that that is probably the issue. It filled with fluid but didn't drain.

Before you get too creative there, and since you will aparently be pulling the carbs off, anyway, ...

have you done a full 'strip-and-dip' cleaning on the carbs and replaced all the o-rings?

If not, this would be the PERFECT time to do it.

Please remember, when it comes to carb cleaning, EVERY SHORTCUT YOU TAKE IS JUST ONE MORE TIME YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE CARBS. :-\\\

Unlikely that the tee is blocked - did you adjust the float heights and close off the float valves completely, accidentally.....

I did soak all the parts in Berrymans, cleaned them up, got the new oring kit, then reassembled. Perhaps the floats are the issue then?

I checked the float heights and it was all in spec, no adjustment needed. Maybe I just have to open them up and take a look.

Yep, I'd say dropping the carbs is going to be your next step. Once you take the float bowls off it should become apparent as to where the problem is. With the carbs upright, the floats should hang loose and allow movement upward. The needles should not be stuck but move up and down with the floats.

Quick check: You should be able to blow air through the fuel line inlet with the carbs upright and not be able to blow any air through the fuel line with the carbs inverted.

Post pics if you question what is wrong.

Great advise. I tried blowing into the fuel line with them mounted to no avail. I will dismount them probably Thursday and see what I can find.

Anyone have any ideas about the shifting issue? Even with the rear wheel in motion the shifter is basically locked in place. I tried adjusting the clutch release based on the service manual over lunch and it is still stuck. I never touched the clutch, just removed and reinstalled the cable, clutch release, and drive sprocket to get the chain off during the tear down.

remove the cover from the front sprocket, see if the shifter shaft frees up then. sometimes corrosion in the cover or dirt can cause the shaft to become very stiff

Also, if the cover doesn't go on dead straight it will bind with the shaft and lock it up.
