DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

On the Mikuni Bs34ss carbs, are the actual bodies(no jets, needles, ect.) all the same? I need to replace a body and have one other set of Bs34ss carbs but the "ink" stamped number has been removed. I have looked here http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/images/carbspec_float_height.html#A01 and it seems that everything is basically the same(aside from the jet sizes, needles ect.) except the starter jets. Mine calls for #50 all the others call for #32.5. If someone could also tell me what the " starter jet" is, that would be wonderful too.
The bike I am working with is an 83 GS1100gl the factory carbs are #49400.
Thanks,
Paul G.

Each carb has subtle differences.

#1 has a cover on the left side, because there is no shaft that continues to another carb.
#2 has the vacuum port for the petcock.
#3 has the pulley to which the cable connects.
#4 has a cover on the right side, because there is no shaft that continues to another carb.

OK, the actual bodies might be the same (except for #2's vacuum port), but it's not all that practical to change the throttle shaft linkages, which are the main difference.

Ok Thanks Steve. I knew each body has a specific place, I will be replacing the #1 carb with another #1 carb body. I will make certain that the throttle shaft linkages are the same. If they are not well, I will figure something different out.
You don't happen to know what the "starter jet" is?
Thanks,
Paul G.
P.s. Thank you for the valve spreadsheet. It is quite the useful tool.

The only thing that I can think of that would qualify as a "starter" jet would be the post that sticks down into the edge of the float bowl, but it's not really a "jet", it just has a couple of holes in it. On some carbs, there is a restriction in the port in the float bowl, that might be the "jet", but I have never seen one come out, nor have I seen any numbers associated with it.
