A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well they do, but someone has changed the wiring harness and the carburetors. Unwrap the tape going to the coils and see if the wires are long enough to reach the R. C. Eng harness. The coils should be hanging under the frame above the motor. The harness should run below the right side of the transmission cross to the other side of the bike behind the transmission and up to that boot where the coil plugs should be. You might have to make some jumper wires to reach.

Pagan, i can see what must be a little confusing is that you are dealing with three sets of wire colors, however from the information you already have you should be able to figure this out. Old vet has researched and found that the connections are the same as a dyna s. so you should be able to figure out which wire colors on your RC match the Dyna S colors. There are only three wires. Old vet also described the connectionos between the rc and the coils. Again there are only three wires.
On the gs:
switched +12v is O/W and is what goes to both coil(+)
1-4 coil (-) is W
2-3 coil (-) is B/Y
All these connections are under the gas tank near the coils.
So in the simplistic terms the rc only connects to the coils except that both rc and coils need the same o/w switched power which comes from the harness.
I suggest you draw a simple diagram to sort this out.

Look at the front of the motor and see if there is a tab in the front of the head in the middle, in line with the exhaust with a bolt coming up from the bottom. If it does, it is a newer motor. The '78 did not have that bolt, they changed that '79 and later. Don't worry, the motor numbers and the frame numbers never matched from the factory. So for future reference your bike is '78 with an '80 or later motor without the Suzuki electronic ignition, but fitted with the older mechanical advance of the '79 and earlier bikes. You might want to put that in your signature so when you post everyone will know your basic wiring and brake setup but they will also know your carburetors are the CV type and not the VM type that came on the '78.
