So it's a tradeoff, really. Either less to WOT using more force, or reposition my wrist to get to WOT. Is the force that much noticeable? Maybe invest in a new cable as well?
Yes, it is a trade off. A certain amount of work has to be done in compressing the return springs as you open the throttle.
Work = Force X Distance
If you reduce the distance the work is performed over then the force has to go up. There is no other way this can work. The only way you will know is to try it and see. The CV carbs (assuming your bike has CV's) all have such light return springs on them that I don't think it is an issue. At least it isn't for me and I am just a pasty office boy with very few callouses on my hands and no blacksmith wrists.
You are massively over thinking this. In the time you have spent typing you could have went down to your favourite hardware store, bought the PVC, cut it to fit and then went for a test ride. If the effort is too high then I would lube the throttle cable. If that doesn't do it, then put a new cable on.
