    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Removing Tank KREEM?

The tank on my 79 GS1000L was KREEMED by the previous owner. How do I remove the old tank KREEM?
Any advice would be appreciated.

I used POR-15 to reseal, and they offer a cleaner,

but,

there are tons of pages here about this via a search.
There is something for Kreeme and something else for rust.
 
I’ve stripped Kreem before using paint stripper and aquarium rocks – all detailed in the archives. Kreem is pretty lame stuff compared to Por-15 tank sealer and comes out fairly easily. The hardest part is dealing with all the mess and protecting the paint on your tank. The key to doing a good job is to take your time and work in steps; dump in some stripper, rotate/shake the tank every few hours, dump out the slop after a day or so, rinse with paint thinner, inspect tank though various openings, and dump in some fresh concoction until all the sealer is out. Oh, and make sure to allow the tank to vent when the stripper is inside since pressure build up can cause your tank to pooch out (don’t ask me how I know). After all the sealer is out, repeat the process using phosphoric acid, Evapo Rust, or similar, to get the rust out.

May I ask why you want to remove the Kreem coating? If it was done right, it should still be sound. I did my tank with Kreem almost 20 YEARS ago and it is still 100% sound....my tank still looks like inside of Keystone teflon lined beer can.

(btw, i also etched my garage floor as a 'bonus' :eek:during the project...the wife loved that one so don't ask...)
