    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Again i dont know if this is a repeat but i want to reverse the shift pattern on my 83 gs1100e. It has tons of linkage rather than a directly attached foot shifter. I was thinking of cutting off one of the levers from the setup and after changing the position of the smaller lever to straight up, reweld the lever from the rear part of thee mechanism into a convenient spot to allow me to upshift by pushing the foot pedal down--I know the descriptin is not good but unfortunately i do not have the ability to do better.
Anyone done this or have any ideas--My reflexes have been hampered but the stroke and when i pull a gear i sometimes miss or pull too hard causing th bike to rock too much-I have a second shift mechanism in transit from california.
 
Your descripton is perfectly clear Scotty. I dont see any problem with what you want to do. Usually on any kind of linkage/bellcrank arangement, all you have to do to reverse the relative directions is to add a single flange on the other side of any pushrod opposite an existing flange(bellcrank ear). That will leave all throws the same distance and you should not have to adjust anything for it to work the same as before but in reverse.

why dont you just give me your bike....or you could try a heel toe shifter?
 
Yes, just flipping the splined attachment (top to bottom or bottom to top)will result in a 'racers' pattern. Many a GSXR has been put on the wrong way, and then the owner taps it all the way down (actually taking it up to the highest gear). Then they can't get it to move, saying it dies whenever they let out the clutch. I know because I'm the one they bring it to for repair!

but there is no possibility of using a heel and toe shifter as far as i can see. on diferent model GS bikes the shift lever is direct and then your suggestion would be possible to adapt but in this rig there isn't even room for a lever that extends toward the back of the bike.

Why not go for an AirShifter? All you do is give it a nudge and it does the work for you.

The reason is simple --I have given it much thought and researched it heavily--In fact i have easy access to Murdoch racing --
The reason is the same one that i dont install
welded and ballanced crank
40mm flatslides
racing cams anda entire new Heavy duty valve train
adjustable cam gears
over sized stainless valves with a 3 angle valve job
ported and flowed heads
and the list goes on :( :( :( :( :( :(
