    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Well all, while is was riding home last night i came across a 1981 gs1100e
that was the saddest shape i've seen in a long time the mirrors were green (on the back side) rear tail piece cracked and loose, front shroud around the head light broken and a big piece of aluminum pop riveted to hold it on, seat hand re-covered, rusty dirty and missing side covers, someone took a hammer to the gas tank and beat the3 s... out of it.
They said they replaced generator HAHA, cluch DUH!, it looks like a RATTY rat bike. asking price $900 usd 21k miles (wont pay that i think?)

My question is how many did they make in 1981 ? and should i save it?

Why oh why did they do this!!!!!
 
You can't blame the most recents owners for everything - it probably has a long history of abuse. First, see if it runs. An operational motor up here in the NW will fetch at least $2-300. If it doesn't, I'm not sure I would bother unless you need it for parts. Sounds like they are asking a lot for such a beater.
 
I was just venting, what a way to go... nice pristine bike when new, gave everything it had to some? owners, treated like manure, don't care if they die giving all that they had, but like this? i didn't have the heart to listen to it run ( it had pods on it) i was enough of a heartache, just to see it.

I got on my 850 patted the tank and said, i ain't going to happen to you...

I was thinking somewhere about 300.00 if they didn't make that many, if not i pass.
 
Yes, sometimes it better to turn a blind eye to the suffering...

Anyway, I don't know how many were made - and I don't see why that's important. Most bikes are 'Frankensteins' after this may years anyway. Could be you're looking at a collection of leftover parts.

Try not to let your emotions run away with you - an engine with only 21K is a nice catch, but only if you can verify it has 21K. If the engine, frame and wheels are in good shape, you can have a nice bike for a nominal investment. I think $300 is reasonable.
