A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Screw question.

Hello All,

The two screws that keep the gear indicator (the piece between the speedo and tacho) together are missing on my GS650G. Does anyone know what type/size I should use?
One may say that any screw that fits in there is "good" enough but I would rather not mess the thread up.
I know I owe you folks some pics... I will do my best to post some soon (the truth is that I haven't taken any yet)
I did insure and register the bike today though.

Thanks.

Julien-

You could just order the NOS screws from somewhere like flatout. I just looked at the fiche for a 1981-82 gs650g, model z and the two screws for the indicator position display are like .84 cents each. Honestly, since you are using the gear indicator display in the original speedometer/tachometer housing, I would just see what you have at home and what will work. As long as it fits, how could one strip it?

I will take a look when I get off work tonight, sure it is a small metric screw probably a M4 or M5 with fine threads. By the way, welcome to GSR. Basscliff has a great website with a downloadable service manual for the 650g models, sure he will find you if he hasn't already.;)

Just went out and looked at bike, can't get to screw without messing with headlight:(. Hopefully someone else has a cover sitting around that could measure one.

Hi,

#22 in the picture? You need 2 of them. Part# 03511-03146. About a buck at most online OEM places.

Sorry, I couldn't find any generic specifications for it.

Thank you for your indulgence,
