A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I spent a few years (no tuning included) goofing/commuting on a 1984 Kawasaki GPZ 900. I do understand the power difference, but I could lift the front wheel at will. My with 1977 GS 750 on the other hand, I need to hang on to the clutch to get the wheel up. My question is, should I be able to elevate the wheel without the clutch on a 750 or am I lacking power/ clutch adjustment?

gpz prolly has 30% more power than the gs

no willies on zook without the clutch i'm afraid :(

Like they said, the extra HP makes all the difference. BUT if you really NEED to get your front wheel up, try slideing back on the seat, that will also make a lot of difference. And I don't remember a GPZ 900. Wasn't that "84" Kaw 900 a "NINJA" ?? It seems to me the GPZ & the Ninja were different animals. GPZ more of an all puropse (naked) bike & the Ninja was one of the early crotch rockets.

We had the GPZ900 in the UK - set a new standard for others to reach. The standard GS750 is a bit heavy to lift the front. If you lighten it wheels / brakes, go kickstart only, change the zorst etc it'll pop up ok. Another couple of teeth on the rear sprocket will help as well.

torque does the wheelie.

!! sprocket ratio gearing will have a HUGE effect on wheelie-ability!!

I got the front wheel up on the 1k yesterday, needless to say I was amazed. Didnt think the ol' plug had it in her.

Made me wonder what pods/4-1/DJ3 would do for this thing.

Tried time and time again to get the front wheel up on the 80 750L, to no avail. Just too fat. The bike, that is. :)

Just too fat. The bike, that is. :)

I've got the same problem, just the other way round - it's now me carrying too much beef. Over the years I became almost obsessed with shedding weight on various bikes when the easiest and cheapest thing to have done was diet!
