I just rebuilt upper end of my 80 gs 1000.It runs ok now,but will not idle.Tries to at about 900.used to idle perfectly at about 1100 rpms.Where is there a screw or something i can turn to maybe make it idle a little faster.I know this cant be as hard as rebuilding the motor,it for SURE cant be as hard as getting the cam chain guide in right.No i did not mmercury balance,dont have one.no i didnt bench synch either.If i turn the throttle ever so slightly at redlights there is no problem,let it go completely and it will die.Thanks.

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

There is a idle adjustment knob on the carbs. Look around near the throttle shaft and you will find it.

Ron, your carbs may also need synchronising with that rebuilt engine. It will bring all cylinders to have a very similar pressure so run smoother. Currently you may have one cylinder working better than the others causing her to run lumpy and not idle.

At least your running now Ron.I am about to change my stator so any words of encouragement will be appreciated.I would rather mess with carbs than go thru what you just did with your engine!
Yeah,my engine rebuild was a learning experience.I had my stator replaced on my bike before i got it by the previous owner.But in my Clymer's manual it looked like it was very straightforward and not difficult to do.Keep us posted.Good luck.

It's sorta a no brainer. One thing I have learned about these bike is TIME AND PATIENCE PAYS OFF !!!
