SH775 question

My apologies. I evidently imposed the word "new". :( I misread s/h as part of SH775, and not as second hand.

I wish I had bought the Triumph wiring kit. I spent about the same money for a kit from Amazon that I had to do all the wire crimping myself.
i been looking around for the wiring loom for ages for a decent price. some cheap ones in USA but the shipping costs killed the deal. Had one lined up on ebay.uk for ?22, second hand. Then i thought i would check on the price of a new one. From a UK main dealer, ?19.90 + ?3 next day delivery. So i ordered it. Happy me :D

does anyone know if it is possible to buy the corresponding connectors that go on the other end of the Triumph 2500676 cable? or do you just cut them off and fit your own terminal connectors?
I posted this back in post #3:

When most GSers use the harness, they likely cut off the ends connect to the bike and use their own connectors or solder. Personally, I have kept the Triumph harness intact and used its connectors. Most of my harness around the battery and fuses has been customized a bit, so it was no problem to make up some new connectors that mated up to the Triumph harness.
I have a collection of connectors that I use for repair and 'customization' (addition of accessories, usually), I get them from Eastern Beaver (scroll down to 'unsealed connectors') or Vintage Connections.

.

Steve, i got the new harness today, the 2 connector plugs that go to th SH775 are correct, 3 wires to the l/h plug from stator, 2 wires ( red and black) to the r/h plug for the + and -.
On the plugs on the other end the + and - split into a 4 way connector, 2 grounds and 2 positives.
How have you configured this plug when connecting it to the GS?

If I remember correctly , I just combined the two wires into a single, larger wire and ran each one to its appropriate place.

As mentioned earlier, my bike has had some re-wiring done, so it's a bit far from "stock". My ground (earth) wire goes to my version of a 'single-point ground (earth)' and my positive wire goes to the battery terminal on the starter solenoid. (I try to minimize the number of wires on the battery itself.)

Yeah i thought that was the case with the wires. I am building a bike from scratch, including the wiring, so all will be custom built for the bike. Was looking at Eastern beaver for the connectors and saw the PC8 fuse box. was planning on the motogadget M box but those pc8 seem to be the same thing just a lot cheaper.
Do you know if they are any good? ( will try a search on here see what i can find.)

EDIT: just searched and i see you already use them!

If this helps
Cut off the two small plugs then carefully split the harness so you have one plug with two brown and two black wires twist the Browns together likewise with the blacks so you now have a plug with one brown and one black so to speak.
The brown connects to the red wire in the bikes harness where the original rectifier/regulator red connected to, know as the T connection on various posts on here.
The black connects to the single point ground see many posts on here or just use the search facility for information.
The three blacks on the other plug connect to the three wires that come from the stator it does not matter which wire connects to which ( there is no polarity)
All joints where twisted together soldered and shrink wrapped.
The two left over wires in the bikes harness can be taped up and tucked away as they were for the handle bar loop and are not in use now.

Not only do I have them on all the bikes here (except the Wing), I started a thread for the install on my son's 1000G. :encouragement:
By the way, if you are at all handy with a set of crimpers and a box of connectors and terminals, you can save some money by getting just the PC8, and not the harnesses that are offered. Don't get me wrong, the harnesses are top-notch, first-quality stuff, but the one that I got simply was the wrong length between some of the connectors and I had to do them over. Would have been much easier to start with wires and connectors and put them all where they would fit on MY bike.

One of the local GSers here installed an M box. Not sure exactly which variant, but he had some difficulty getting it to work. Finally got it all sorted out, but I can tell you that you will have to re-learn EVERYTHING about how to control the electrics on the bike. If I remember correctly, you have to hold two buttons to engage the starter. A different two buttons to shut it down. Lot's of goofy stuff. Might work for those who feel the need to eliminate some of the bike's electronics, but it's not for me.

i was only going to buy the box itself and wire it as required. As you say, buying premade wiring looms are almost never the correct length, or have the correct connectors fitted.
As its a custom build i can mount the Battery, Sh775 and the fuse box where i want and then run the wires as and where needed.
