A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

Can anyone help me with repairing cracks to the top of side covers on a gs850g. I have been told it is caused by the seat sagging.
See attached photo.

Thanks

I read somewhere (here?) that cracks in plastic can be repaired by wicking Crazy Glue (cyanoacrylate) into the crack before sprinkling baking soda on it. I'll be giving this procedure a try this week on the side covers on my GK.
Good luck,
Willie in TN

In the RSA we can buy a product called Q-Bond. It consists of two containers with a type of superglue and two containers with something like a fine sugar type powder in it. You just put a line of this powder over the crack and then drip the super glue on the powder and within about 10 seconds a chemical reaction starts and the crack is fixed and the stuff binds to plastic like nothing else.
See it on this link: http://rccapetown.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=243
Maybe there is something similar available on your side.

I just repaired mine, I used Karfill car bog. Mine were fairly broken so just filled the cracdks up then sanded back and repainted. Very easily done.

I recently did some repair on an old Vetter fairing using ABS glue from the pluming section at the local big box, Home Depot in my case.
A small can was less than $5. It's pre-mixed and thick enough to be somewhat self-levelling, just smear it on. It works by "melting" in to the part being repaired. I wouldn't use anymore than necessary, it dries very hard and would take a while to sand it down

Thanks for your replies and ideas.

In Australia we have similar glues. I have just used a type of superglue that looks like it has melted into the plastic and bonded it. I'm gunna see how it goes.

Keep you posted.

Thanks
