Hi folks, I have recently rebuilt the starter motor in my 1982 GSX1100SXZ Kat and would like to pass on a tip that makes replacing the starter motor shaft seal quick and simple. To overcome the problem of the magnets on the starter casing grabbing any metal tool used to replace the seal, I used a wooden shaft long enough to reach the bottom of the case with a turned end to fit the seal.
Pic 1 shows the new seal with a coating of Coppercoat to help with the installation.
Pic 2 shows the seal being installed.
Hope this is of help to anyone replacing the shaft seal, cheers.
