    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Here we go again. I tested my stator voltage, at around 5000 RPM it reads 70volts on all outputs. My requlator has no voltage, easy right? Well I have to make sure my stator is ok? I did the resistance test on the stator itself, First between all outputs, measure around 1ohm. Next I went to the ground from each output, 1 ohm reading. Things don't sound to good. Now My BIG question, HOW can I read 70volts across each wire Yet be shorted to ground?
I also believe the regulator is bad, Question: Could the stator short to ground cause my problem with my regulator?
MORE TEST REQUIRED?

Now who in the Eastern USA rebuilds Stators?

Interesting question.

You may simply have a problem with the meter. Check it against a full short situation (both leads in contact). I suspect you will find it is showing 1 ohm.

If not......speak to Hap Call, he of the endless thong, and infinite knowledge on things electrical.
 
Thanks for the reply. I did check the resistance in meter leads and it was .3 ohms. Even tried my fluke DVM it read the same. I will be pulling this whole thing apart this weekend. Then I will check out the physical condition of the stator.
 
I called a place in NH and they were very helpful. I told them that i measured correct output voltage at 5000rpm, but my ohm readings measure 1 ohm from output to ground. They said I needed a new stator. It will be coming in tomorrow. It even has a 6mo. warranty, and the price was the best I could find with shipping. Thanks for all your help.
