    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

still no combustion

problem is no combustion on #2 cyl and what I've done so far

1- tested signal generator,coils and igniter .. all passed the tests
2-swapped plugs, plug wires with #3.. still no combustion on #2
3-checked vacuum hose to petcock and tested petcock...passed the test
4-took out drain plug on float bowl on #2 carb ..lots of gas in bowl, I don't beleive the float is stuck open because there is no fuel overflowing or draining off anywhere

Is this all that I can try before I take the next step and start disassembling the carbs?

P.S this problem had happened 2 times before on a short ride to work but the next time I started the bike it was fine both times.

If the carbs have never been thoroughly cleaned, start there.

Dip the bodies, bowls and jets overnight. Spray through all holes with carb cleaner and then blast with air. Make sure all passages are clear.

What does plug number 2 look like?

Man oh man. Must be my lucky day.As I was getting ready to put the bike in the garage I noticed #2 plug wire was still off. With the bike running, It appeared to smooth out when the plug wire was halfway on the plug. All the way on and no spark , half way on and lots of spark and cylinder was firing. Must be a bad end cap or plug or both. Looks like a new set of wires and plugs. Thanks to all those who offered help

That is good news. You might get by with a new cap. If that one is bad, you may want to replace them all. I have heard of them crapping out out of nowhere.

Just buy 4 new caps and snip 1/4" of the end of the wires and screw the new caps in.

If you have stock coils, it's a little more work replacing the wires.

new plug will help, definatily cut a lil off the coil wire , they get wore out and need trimmed
