Suzuki GS1000E intake rubbers sealant

Hi Guys,

I am fitting some new carb intake rubbers to my GS1000 just wanted to know if you use any sealant when fitting them. Many thanks

No sealant. Most have O rings in the metal that seals against the head. If you use the aftermarket Z1 ones that O ring is moulded in..... The new ones should come with it.

I use Allen head screws & some anti seize when fitting.

You can use silicon spray (and some heat from a hair dryer) to make it easier to slide the carbs in.....

Use sealants were you see fit, but when I use them I use Yamabond #5. Its a gasket sealer. It insures me absolutely no leaks. When I got back into my GS's, my race bike had been sitting for over 25 years. I had a home fuel petcock made to flow more fuel. I used a inner tube for gasket. When I pulled it off 25 years later the sealant was still pliable. Peeled right off tank. Its not cheap, and for for only a 1 time use on your application probably not needed. More of a FYI comment. Also, Salty's comment on the anti-sieze is right on. I worked in a dealership for many years and the tech's taught me many little tricks. That was one of them. EVERY single bolt I took out with anti-sieze had zreo issues even after 25 years.

I checked out your link on your GS1000. Nice ride! I see your running 36mm flat slides on her. Does it have motor work?

Thank you for your comments limeex2, I am just fitting the new flat sides in the next few days together with Pingel high flow tap, pods and bigger boots. Fingers crossed I will get the jetting some where near from the start. Previous carbs were the VM 29mm Mikunis with a stage 3 dynajet kit and bellmouths
