    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account.   • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Tank Paint, Side covers, and Luggage

You cannot see it in the above picture, but there is an area on the tank around the gas cap that the paint has been missing for awhile. It has now started to rust. I don't have the time, or the money right now, having just lost my job, to do a full take repaint, but I also cannot afford to let it rust. Im tempted to do racing stripes (hey, it might make her go faster too) to cover up the spot, but I am unsure if I go that route if i will ever want to redo it.

The side panel that is visible in the above picture fell off back in October-November. My dad got me a replacement one for Christmas, but A) it is black and B) It does not have the locking mechanism. What would be some solutions on keeping it attached, so it does not fall off again? It should look nicer than my current solution, which is holding the battery in with a chain of zipties.

As a college commuter, I had needed a solution for luggage, and we had picked up some surplus ammo tins. We want to attached them out of the way of the shocks, to the bar that is there, but that requires the movement of the turn signals. We had troubles finding universal movement kits, so, my dad was planning on just fabricating some sort of metal extensions. Is there an easier way?

I take it your ignition is all sorted and working well now?

If that area of paint around the filler has missing paint, then chances are acrylic or enamel paint has been used rather than proper 2K paint and both of those are susceptible to fuel, meaning if you paint with those again, you'll probably have the same issue if you spill fuel on there which can't be avoided at times.

Having said that, it's using acrylic or enamel paint will be the cheapest patch up options until you can afford to do it properly.

When you do get to do it properly, there is now a 2K clear available in a spray can which you can use to solve that fuel issue...

Can't help much with the mounting of the side cover or ammo cans though... I was going to suggest zip ties for the cover...

There have been a few guys on here mount ammo cans though, so do some searching and I'm sure you'll find some tips...

Working on the tins and such today. We had to move the turn signals back. Some of the pictures will be going on the rebuild thread too.
But they are uploading very slowly...
 
This is where we are at so far. Tail lights moved back as stated before, so tthe bins have clearance.

Tank paint patch being done. Its odd, whoever painted the tank before just panted right on top of the old maroon.

Sorry I don't have a better picture, but this should give you an idea of how my wife's signals got moved:

I think it's probably a "universal" kit, but it's just a flat piece of chrome, bolts to the license mount then angles back and holds the signals just fine.

Pete, Im going to keep it red for now, but the paint one of the PO's put over the maroon is starting to chip. I wont go to the stock that was on it, but will probably stay close to the brighter red in the pictures. The bins will be red and black.

Steve, In the picture, that is the after results of moving them. Right after we bolted the stainless on, we called my mum over, and told her to look at the bike. She didn't notice anything different. I was thinking of painting the stainless brackets black, to make it match the frame more, but we didnt feel like unbolting everything to get them off to paint them.
 
As soon as i get home today, Ill put the last coat of red on her, and if i have time, put on the clear. if not, ill have to wait another 2 days for that >:(
