A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi,

I have a GS550, 1979. Just upgraded the coils and thought I would treat myself to some taylor leads.

I have noticed they do not fit as I would expect, they go in but the spark plug 'nibble' is much small then the hole, see picture...! Hard o explain..

Is this normal? I can't see how it can get a decent connection.

Is it possible to by the same size spark plug but larger 'nibble' rather then another ?50 on leads !

help ;-) ...again!

If you mean the tip of the plug that the leads attach to perhaps the boots or caps as we call em are made for a different tip.

This type of tip

Yes the wrong tips.

Lots of strange text in your post!

What should I do?

Gosh The second pic is one that has a removable tip thingy
If you had this extra bit you could thread it on, tighten and the caps would likely fit.

I would return the leads if possible and look to a different means of addressing any HT lead issue you have.

There are some gurus lurking about or who will be on later to explain things in detail etc.

I reckon I could just find somewhere that supplys the nibble larger thing ? I have seen these before. Wonder if you can het then online ?

would send bk but suspect after I have cut them will be my fault

Yeah if yah cut them they are yours to keep forever.
You may be able to get the extra bit for the terminal I have no idea.

Funny HH the ones I buy for my bike OEM have not got the bit attached.
Think of the economy of scale savings.

go to any automotive garage and look for discarded plugs, bring yourself some pliers and screw them off, bring home and screw the cpas on to your plugs....

If you were not so far away and across the pond, I would put a few in an envelope and mail them to you....

Cheers

yep, NGK plugs come with them for your bike. do as above.....buy some new plugs or go to your friendly bike servicing garage and steal some....

Thanks all. Ordered 10 new plugs on ebay. Cant wait to try the bike out.

funny as hell
mind you I only get plugs in plastipaks sans nibble

Or just buy new Champions or Bosch that are the equivelent to the B8ES NGK plugs. They should have the larger NIB
