A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The babies are about to get dunked!

I went to the local Lordco and asked them to get some solvent that is powerful enough to disolve a body. They laughed and brought me this stuff.

Now when I took some of the jets and needles out a few of the o-rings disintegrated and or were torn. Good thing I got my replacement kit on your advice from http://cycleorings.com/ thanks guys! :D

I took it all apart and I just want to get some final advice if I should take them apart further. It looks to me like theres still some rubber pieces here and there and I would be a really sad guy if I had to repair and replace them. What do you guys think?

Yes, pull all the bodies off the rack and dunk them

Did you read the VM tutorial?

Take em apart. You'll need to anyway to replace the orings on the fuel tubes.

Roger that guys. Any chance you could link me to the VM tutorial? I'm on my phone and navigating the site is a little tricky.

Thanks!

Another question is if you look closely one of the pilot fuel screws is quite a bit bigger than the others. Is that normal? If not should I get another one?

Cannot tell from the pic, but where are your air screws and choke assemblies. If those are still on the carbs, don't dunk them yet. Also, pull the slides they have rubber spacers that should not be dipped

I've just read the VM tutorial and will be going a few steps further on disassembly. If you click the photo it should link to the larger photo hosted at Imgur.

I'm just taking a break trying to come down from the gas fumes. I don't have much ventilation in my workshop...:p

Gas fumes make the work more fun!;)

Now I`ve got my o-ring sets to do.
big shout out to Mr. Barr for at cycleorings.com for the kit :)

Now before we do the o-rings they need to go through the cleaning station.
I sprayed, brushed and soaked the jets and needles. Now its time for the new o-rings.

dont forget to take something and poke the crud outta the bowl drains. i used a matchstick and a wire from a wire brush.

Thanks for tip, there was some buildup and I took care of it.

And lastly here are the carbs all back together!

This may be a dumb question but did you identify the carb bodies before seperation and put them back in the same order? #3 carb From the left as you sit on the bike should be the non adjustable one if you got it together right. Just checking

thats a good tip, all the carbs are adjustable if you mean air/fuel screws. However identifying which goes where is pretty easy if you look at how the fuel tubes slot together and what position the air screws are facing. Normally I would go through great pains to make sure I got the carbs back on right but with this set it seems straight forward if you use your thinking cap. Anything I might have missed?

 Actually I just noticed something, I put the float bowl covers on the wrong sides!
