All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The new guy. Gs450L.

Hey all. Wanted to pop in and see how thing are around here. Not much to me. I'm a 798 pipeliner out of Arkansas. Enjoy fishing and the likes. But lately my big project has been this awesome lil 87 gs450l. Just getting her stripped down. Carbs are my first task since when I got the bad girl she had no air filter. Makes me wonder what might be sitting in that carb but hey its part of the fun right guys. Anyways just wanted to say hello to all and kinda see what y'all are riding.20180707_224449.jpg

I am not understanding that.

If you are working on the carbs:
Look into Cycle O-Ring web site for carb rebuild oring set, and maybe intake boot orings. (site is run by a fine GSR member here as a service to us all.)

Tell us more of your adventure.

Haha yeah Bald Knob. I've lived here all my life. You would be surprised how much that comes up traveling.

I'll check those out red and Steve. Because that's the next stop. The guy before me had no air filter in the bike so I can just imagine what the carb looks like. Got the bike in a trade you see. As I get her broke down and stripped I'll post more. Sadly work life keeps me busy. Working on that early retirement.

Oh and 798 is a welders union for the pipeline. Sorry I prolly should have elebarated a little more. It's actually based out of Tulsa Oklahoma. Pays good. Works good. Hours can be very very long.

Welcome to the site!
I don't think Ive ever been to Bald Knob but Ive been around your state and you have got some really nice riding places.

Ah... Pipeline... welder.... union local...
Okay.

Certified Welder I know (power plant boilers) says that is about the only job were have to continuly take test to prove can actaully still DO the work.

Yeah before every job you have to take a test. Bust it once and your gone from the job. 3 bad welds on the job your gone. If you get kicked off the job 3 times for bad welds....well welcome back to school. They use xray to check everything and shoot "pigs" through the pipe to check for anomalies. The pigs used to just clean the inside of the pipes. Now they are electrical and have all these sensors in them.

Thanks strider there are alot of good rides around Arkansas. Mountains, valleys, flats we got it all. I love this state because of all the nature spots along the way. Only thing. The heat man. If it's not 100 degrees with 70% humidity or something during summer. Somethings wrong.

We ride atvs around Mena and Dover, but we sometimes like going up to Petit Jean park and hang out on long weekends. Ive never taken the motorcycles there but there are some beautiful areas.

Absolutely. I usually ride up around mountain view. But I go all over the state. Sorry to say the only time I've ever been to Texas was to watch a football game. A Razorback vs A&M down in Jerryworld.

Btw Steve and Redman really thanks for the links. I didn't have time to really look at them when I thanked you before but that is awesome information. I've had a hard time finding info on this Lil 87 gs. Thought I'd have to suck it up and buy a service manual but those links told me everything I needed to know. Truly thank you.
