A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

there round

Sounds like you're good to go!

Jetting is a real game and should be regarded as a learning process. Some give up in frustration and put the air box back on. It may take quite a while to get it right but it can be done.

A few of us on here have '78 750's with V&H 4-1 and K&N pods. Main jet of 117.5 - 122.5 and pilot jet standard at 15 will work. A colortune can help and plug chops (if you have the patience) but you will need to do the basic maintenance before you re-jet.

Completely dismantle and dip the carbs for 24 hours.
Replace the orings, see cycleorings.
Adjust the valve shims.
Move on to the next issue.....
Good luck and welcome to the forum!

I can breath a sigh of relief :D cheers Ive also got the exhaust from the pic aswell ..I'll take my time and and go through it from basic maintenance now I know Ive got the main backbone right.....thanks very much for your time everyone

Airbox vs. jetting 18 GS 1000 G

My suzuki dealer says my airbox is shot as the gasket that the air filter sits against is rotted out. He says no fix and K&N pods and Jet Kit is solution. Can anyone help me? I like the original look of the bike and rejetting looks expensive.

Bollocks! Get some sticky backed insulation/draft excluder and epoxy it to the airbox. It'll last for a few years.

It would have been better to start your own thread with this, instead of burying it at the end of another one, but we can pick on you anyway. :p

First of all,

Now, what bike do you have? They do not all share the same air filter mounting techniques, so they will tend to vary.

Assuming you have a 1000G, because you are posting in this tread, you don't need a new airbox, just add some weatherstripping foam to the filter.

You can find directions how to do that by clicking HERE.
