A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

this ruined my weekend

I'm new to this. Following the gs cv mikuni carb rebuild for my 1983 gs750

So the air bleeder screw was stuck in mycarb body lasto week.I took it to the machine shop since the Zuki dealer wouldn't touch it.

Their machinist cranked it down so hard it tore off a chunk or something. I wish bad things up on him. Of course they won't buy me a new one.. very bad things.

Where can I get a new one? Do new ones come with all the insides and caps and misc parts on it? It's number 1.
I can get a set of bad looking carbs from the local bike graveyard for 100$ but they look really really bad.

They also ducked up the threads where the air screw goes. So I do think think I can jb weld it.

Anyone have suggestions?

Thats really just cosmetic damage. The gasket fits inside the lip and will be pinched between the bowl..it wont leak.

It feels like I'd have to force it. And I don't want to re-cross thread it..

Not sure about the screw deal. But get Quicksteel at walmart and it will set up in 5 minutes and hard as steel in an hour. Don't ask how I know LOL

You should report that shop to the better business bureau. If a machinist screws something up he should make it right.

Thread chaser?

Thread chaser?

I would try a thread chaser like these http://www.bikernet.com/pages/THREAD_CHASER_TAP_SET.aspx for the mixture screw threads if you can find one small enough and metric of course. If you don't already have a set i would highly recommend them, they come in handy more than you would think. If you can't get it straightened out you can probably find a carb body on ebay or maybe someone on here may have one.

Thread Tap is 6MM by .5 plug tap.

As others suggest, gasket surface appears to be repairable.

New mixture screws from Z 1 if required.
