A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

using hand controls from a different bike on the GS?

not positive on those since the orientation is totally different.. given new bikes have the controls angled more towards the rider than on our classics...

don't think the orientation really matters, I have some clubmans on my GS right now and they're more angled towards the rider as well, i'm just wondering if the diameter of the bar is 7/8ths so the controls would actually fit onto my bars.

I got the same one. Love it. It's great to have a brake light switch that WORKS! Just cut the wires from the old brake switch and crimp on a female connector on each.

I don't know about the mirrors. I got napoleon bar ends.

Yep, I did the same thing. when I got the bike the wires weren't connected. I cut a clean end, crimped a female on each, plugged them in, and voila. The braking is much better. Still not what I hope for. The next step is individual steel braided lines to the front bypassing the junction. My mirrors aren't original, but they screwed right it. My understand in all japanese bikes are 10mm. The only deviation is Yamaha is reverse threaded on one side.

I got the braided lines and converted to twin disc at the same time. Haven't ridden it yet but I'm anticipating a positive result.

I'm sure you'll get it. I just have bigger fish to fry (as they say) at the moment. My petcock is bad. It was bypassed by the PO. There is a manual shutoff installed inline in the fuel line. I need to get the petcock replaced and put a fuel filter inline where that valve currently resides. Also, my cam cover leaks. Two of the bolts are missing. Gasket is on the way (along with a set of stanless bolts). While the cam cover is off, I might as well check the valves. One header bolt missing from 2 of the headers. I know for a fact one of them is sheared and will have to be extracted or drilled out. No perceptable leak, but needs to be fixed. As with the Cam cover, "while the header is off" I'm probably going to get it painted black (leaving the mufflers chrome). All that said, it runs great, tons of power. The idle wanders a bit (as I wait for my Morgan Carbtune).

Did the one you get by chance be this one here? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FRON...ryZ35592QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

If it is did you have trouble with your mirrors not threading in.. since i certainly like my stock mirrors =)

LOL... I see someone else is also inquiring the same question hehe

Kcwiro,
I have one of these brand-new that I'm not gonna' use(decided to do something else)...got it from the same place, and I'll let it go considerably cheaper cheaper than that one, if you are interested.

The one thing I was worried about with this is the brake lever. What happens if you bust your break lever? How would you replace it?

i'M SLIGHTLY CONCERNED ABOUT THAT TOO.

OOps

Well, if it's a "drop" that would suck (I kept my original as well), if it's because you laid the bike down on the road, probably bigger worries.
:-)

Well, I guess if I'm going to drop it I better do it on the left.

well that looks to me to be a honda shadow brake lever... i know because i had to replace one from a drop, i dropped my suzuki and my honda also went over at the same time... but its looks exactly like shadow brake lever. if you are talking about the master cylinder in the ebay link that is.

Talon, great to know thanks :)

My GS went over thanks to the assistance of a late night hooligan. It was to the left side and the clutch lever was fine, here's to hoping the same would stay true to the right side =]

I would be filled with murderous intentions.

FYI, to actually speak to this thread, I've been long considering getting the left hand controls off an SV on ebay to replace the junky stock controls I have now (I could care less about turn signal self cancellation). The price/condition has just never been right
