DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Cleaning up my head with a mild porting and polishing on my 83 GS1100E. When I was removeing the Valves found (2) int and (1) exh valve were bent very hard to get them out. I brought all (3) new valve. Can they be installed by me at home? or do I need to send them to a shop? What do I need to do to install them? :-k

You need a valve remover tool. You can get a pretty good one on ebay for around $30. It's like a big c-clamp with tips that go ever your valve springs and push on the face of the valve so you can get the keepers off. Better check your valve guides to make sure your bent valves didn't crack them while youre at it. And if course, do lap and seat the new valves in. Good luck.

Valve Change

Thanks guy for the great info, but the valve are out and I have ported and polished the head and I have to say looks great, but I found three bent intake valves and one exhaust. Back in the day I used to race these bikes. I been talking with Paul Gast (Fast By Gast) and Tommy Boaton (Tombo Racing) they are personal friends but they both say that there some great guys on this forum and to say with. So THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP.

But I still need some help with the oil temp and pressure fitting for the oil rails I added and now can't use with the New system.

You can put them in yourself. Check the valve guide It could be oval if the bike was run for a long time with the bent valve. Some one probably over reved it at some time or the cam chain tensioned needs work. Any signs of oil starving ? maybe the valve seized briefly & hit the piston. You should at least lap the valves and check the seat.. Ray is a good guy and has all the tools needed to do the job
