A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I took my tank off to work on the wiring, I didn't notice there were 3 lines on this. I know one is the vacuum line to the petcock, one is the main fuel line, but there's one thats a couple feet long, is this a vent line or something?

The drain tube slips over the small nipple on the "gutter" at the bottom 1/2 of sending unit , runs along the frame to the ground, away from the exhaust !!

I have no idea which model you have but there should be one (or 2) vent lines coming from between your carbs. Since you mentioned your gas line and your petcock vacuum line, I'm guessing that's the one you're seeing.

Except that he is asking about the line on the TANK, not the carbs.

Shameless, as the others have mentioned, that is a safety drain line, in case the gasket around the sending unit happens to leak.

And this is one of the few times that specific model information does not matter. Any of the GSes that have a fuel gauge will have that drain line, and it works the same way for all of them. :encouragement:

its an 80 gs1000G you guys have been great, I just got the bike back from getting the carbs rebuilt, it runs great, all the other stuff you guys have helped me with is about taken care of at this point. lol Thanks again.

My confusion came from reading the post but not the title. My bad! (I still can't figure out why the 2 petcock lines were even mentioned)

Be sure to route all those overflow lines (either from the carbs or sender unit) pointing away from your rear tire. Some guys got these lines dumping right in front of the rear tire. Spring a leak and you are going to start sliding all over the place.
