    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

VIN label is peeling off! How to glue?

No I'm not asking how one applies glue.. I learnt that in college (collage?)
anyway as the pix shows - after hauling the frame to the u-do-it car wash for a grease removal blasting, I've found that the label with vehicle info on the front of the neck is peeling drastically. What stuff holds 'em on?
Anybody know?

It was already peeling and I figured I was not going to get a replacement from Bikebandit 8-[.

How much has it delaminated from the backing? Is it just the front, transparent, thin as tissue paper surface?
 
It' not just the clear coating or wh?ever.
It' s the foil with the bike info on it delaminating from the backing.
 
Mine came off a long time ago and I haven't worried about it. All the required info is stamped into the head tube. Don't know the legalities with the law. Ray
 
what about rubber cement to hold it where you want is and clear coat to keep it there.

I just keep mine with the registration. It IS stamped on the neck so I was never that concerned.

Yeah, second that motion. Maskoff all the areas around the decal, them carefully spray the 2 surfaces LIGHTLY with spray adhesive. Wait about 3 minutes, then use a credit card to start sticking the loose portion onto to its backing from the area where its still attached to the opposite edge, working your way out . If you end up with bubbles, prick the middle of the bubble with a pin and use the credit card as a squeegee to get the rest of the air out of the bubble. BTW, if you need to protect the outer surface from being scraped by the card, use a piece of waxed paper between the 2.
 
Gotta love Uni-strut! You can build anything with that stuff.
 
I saw some stuff today at the parts store called liquid tape. It was near all the automotive dilly dad's. The liquid seems clear. This might work?

Most manufacturers will be able to supply you with a new sticker to put on your bike. An authorized Suzuki dealer should be able to get you a new sticker with the vin and production date on it. Don't expect it to be free, they cost up to $50.
 
mine came off a while ago. The VIN is stamped on the frame next to the sticker. My bike has been impounded and pulled over, and I never had any problems reguarding the legality of not having a sticker. As long as the officer knows where to look and it matches whatever is on your insurance / reg, they dont care.
