    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What does 'Air filter sealing' mean?

Hi,

It means using weatherstripping in the right places on the air filter cage and airbox covers to seal the system so that only the proper amount of air gets drawn into the system. Any leaks will allow too much air to be drawn into the system which throws off the fuel/air ratio and will cause problems. See also the air intake repair guide. The factory designed the airbox to intake a specific amount of air through the airbox snorkel and nowhere else.

Ok, so if I follow the steps in both the 'Air Intake Repair' and 'Airbox Sealing' guides then I'll have done what's necessary for Airbox and Air Filter sealing, right?
 
There is supposed to be foam around the filter on your G to teal it to the inside of the airbox. It is likely that the foam is partly missing, all missing, or degraded to dust.

Yes, pretty much. There should be a strip of foam around the top of the air filter cage to seal it there.

There should be seals around the sides of the airbox.

Also check for tight seals at the boots and between the two halves of the airbox as sometimes they can separate.

Air should enter the system only through the snorkel at the back of the airbox.

Loved the Bullet. Loved firing it up with the kick start and cruising long distances on it. It was my first bike and I was touring india on it for 6 months. So, an experience hard to beat really. Too small and slow for an everyday bike, but perfect for touring slowly over there. Much more comfortable than the ntv650; I could ride it for hours. And loved taking it to garages who'd let me watch while they took it all apart and put it back together again with their eyes closed.

How come you've got so many bikes? Do actually ride them all? Or is it just too hard to let them go? Mine was 1996, but here in Israel you see a lot of restored 70's Royal Enfields.
