A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

thanks pos

at the second look it seems that the finex may actually require less air than the astro...
(you can tell i'm a novice :o )

also, it's good to know that the cup is alu not plastic - as suggested by the extra cups available on the same page (and i couldnt find mentioned anywhere that the cup is alu)

i love my binks no7, but i want a hvlp gun i was thinking sata jet cause all the tips and stuff, but the ptrice is out there by mars you know, really ignorant , if you want a product to sell

so binks until further notice lol, its a great gun
a great gun dialed in -even a poor painter will look good!

The Salesman at Spray world recommended the Finnex 1000 mentioned above over the one that Rusty recommended; I think Rusty (Dale0 is looking at getting the Finnex as well as the cost will be basically the same but much better performance.
Things change around here minute by minute.

I bought a function generator, a new wireless router and was given a HP dv5000 laptop with a bad motherboard (can get a new board for $85). Tooltopia has the Finex for 83.99 with free shipping over $50 that ends today and I have three guns now.

decisions, decisions...

Great price. Good excuse to have seperate guns for primer, color and clear.:D

I have a nice full sized Sharpe I need to try to offload on ebay first to offset the cost.

after deliberation and research (and the above suggested places not shipping to new zealand) i decided to settle on this localy available mini gun:

Star EVO-T Mini (at the page bottom)
http://www.almax.co.nz/viewproduct.php?catID=11

it has very low air consumption which i understand means you can work slowly with it and have little overspray. it also requires only a small compressor. the pattern should be 110mm (just over 4") wide which is small compared to full size guns but should be sufficient for motorbike parts.

My Astro is an EVO-T series and the spray gun also says Star on the handle. it looks like you did buy an Astro mini gun.

if not, it's a knock-off of a knock-off. or, the Astro is a re-boxed knock-off.

STAR... http://almax.co.nz/pdf/14.pdf (see page 6 for the minigun)

Star spray guns are solely manufactured in one factory in Taiwan, allowing for total control over all
aspects of production and quality standards.

(EVO-T = 72% transfer efficiency)

not available in the USA :(

yeah, same brand, made in taiwan.

possibly ASTRO is an additional name for marketing purposes and STAR is the factory name.

anyhow, should be a sweet mini gun :)

forgot to say, as per your recommendations i got an alu cup in place of plastic
