    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Where do I get piano wire clips?

Have a sticky clutch on an 850 G and looked at the manual to see what I would need to take it apart and inspect. The manual suggests replacing the piano wire clip when you take it apart. Z-1 didn't have them in stock and before I look too far I was wondering if these can be made easily or if the manual is going overboard on replacing them every time they are taken apart.

Can't help you with your 'frequency of replacement' question, but can offer this:

Z1 is a great place to shop. MOST of what they show on their website is in-stock and ready to ship. However, they don't carry much in the way of OEM equipment, and have to order it from the Suzuki warehouse, just like any of the other online vendors that we use. If you want to order it from Z1, call them or send them an e-mail, they will be happy to order it. You will likely need to find the part number (it makes Z1's life a bit easier, too), so look it up ahead of time.

Or, you can order it from the place you are looking up the part number. Parts Outlaw is one of the favorite OEM vendors. When you get to the Checkout page, look for the promo field, enter the word BANG, you will get free shipping. :encouragement:

I wonder how long they still be offering that BANG code. Seems like they've been doing it for some time now. Not that I'm complaining!!!
 
I have NEVER put that wire back in on any clutch I have ever worked on. All you need to do is put a little bit of grease on the wave washer & "L" washer behind the first plate, to hold them in place while you put everything back together. Street bike, drag bike, road race bike, no issue.

the piano wire is only removed if you are replacing the steel that it holds in place against the inner hub.
you mentioned a sticky clutch?
if that's the case just remove the plates and re-install....no reason to remove the piano wire.
 
I am assuming that a sticky clutch is the case. The bike sat for about 4 months waiting on some upgrades. Last week I noticed that it doesn't disengage when I pull the clutch in.
