DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey guys,

New to the forum here. Just picked up a 1981 GS400L and it has a terrible "custom" seat on it.

There's a 1982 GS250 seat on craigslist in good shape, will it fit?

Hey mate, welcome! The frames on the 250's seem to be pretty different to the 400/425/450's so I'd say it's highly unlikely without modifications.

Given you have a GS400L... does it have the rectangular end caps on the valve cover? If so, that's the 8 valve motor, so a seat from a 1980 - 1982 GS450L should fit and I believe the seat off the T models of the same vintage are also a direct swap.

You're still best off checking before buying as I haven't seen any of those models first hand and am going by other's reports.

Also, stick a g'day thread in the GS Owners section so everyone can say g'day and BassCliff can pass on a ton of incredibly useful info too.

I have stock 81 450L seat sitting in storage. it has a small tear in it, but I wont ever be able to use it again do to frame mods. I would let it go cheap, but I am not sure about shipping cost

Define cheap :p, I want to make my own, but it'll likely look like ****. So starting with the original seat with foam intact is probably the better way to go.

sorry for the late reply, school and work keep me busy. along with build my friends xj650 while he is deployed. $10 plus shipping for the seat. it has a small tear in the seat, but the foam and pan are good. its in a friends storage. if you are interested I can get it and take pictures this weekend

No prob :) yeah im interested, if u could take a picture thatd be great. Do you know if that plastic/metal piece behind the seat is required? My bike doesn't have it and the light is mounted on the fender

sk88er44 here is your seat packaged and going out tomorrow. hope you get some good use out of it.
