The Custom Saddle Experience

Wanted - More Testers (for Corbin & Other Custom Saddles)!

Douglas Berry (yes, the one from the home made fully adjustable trick bars) gritted his teeth and provided us with a mileage test of a Corbin seat on his '82 GS1100. And, fellow GS owner Doug Petepiece's wrote and submitted an item about his Corbin experience on his '83 GS1100.

Since these tests were done back in the mid-1990's, other Corbin saddles and similar products have come on the market for the GS. We could use some additional "Tour Testing Results" of these saddles!

Present and past editors that own and ride '82 GS1100's are quite happy with the stock seat, but if you're not, or if you need a new seat AND you have the cash to burn, the Corbin catalogue is well worth taking a look at. Quality and fit is usually top-notch. Doug's story may be a bit short, but hey, it's hard to write a long story on something that's so good that you don't notice it.

Dave's Testimonial

Yes, it is firm to start with, but after a couple of 1000 k days, it is firm in all the right places. I believe it cost me in the area of $420.00 Canadian and that was with a custom color on the piping.

My wife has also said the passenger area is more comfortable than the original.

It is a straight swap for the original, unlock one, lock on the other.

Doug's Testimonial

I bought one for my 83 GS1100E and while its really nice looking - and it puts me a bit closer to the ground. The only cautions I would add is that the perforations in the seat allow moisture to collect in the foam soaking my pants on several occasions, while not really hard.

It does make putting the seat on a careful procedure, as it can tend to snarl in the side covers and you must be sure the rear seat clips grab the metal body pegs properly. Sometimes mine end up with the handles locked in place, not the grabbing hooks.

This is the best attempt I can make with my four year old pulling at me to go out and enjoy this great Canadian snow storm
