Hello fellow
GSResources members,
I purchased
this GS1100EZ new in the spring of 1982, and put 26,000 miles
on it over the next 11 years. At the end of that time, it was
suffering from a partially clogged carburetor, so I parked it
in my garage, and more or less forgot about it.
In September
2006, after having recovered from an illness that nearly took
my life, I realized I needed to find some things I had been
missing. One of these things was riding my motorcycle. With
the help of GSResources, and all the good people that offered
advice and encouragement, I proceeded to clean, rebuild and
/or replace every thing on the bike that I needed to, to make
it a reliable, and top notch
performer.
I’ve tried to
keep it true to its original form, only upgrading the fork
springs, shocks, brake lines, and replacing the usual items
like the regulator/rectifier, tires, chain & sprockets, etc…
This photo
shows a windshield with quick mount hardware installed on the
bike. I only use it during the coldest part of winter, and
for long trips, because I prefer to ride the bike as original.
I hope you
enjoy this look at a classic UJM.
Sincerely,
Jon White
