    Purple Power cleaner

I normally don't get into pluging products on the internet unless the stuff impress me TOTALLY. Well, for years i've been using Simple Green to wash the mud and grime off my bikes, and it always worked good, until a few weeks ago when a good friend who cleans boats told me about a kick a$$ cleaning product called Purple Power:

The leader in industrial and household cleaners and degreasers.

This product is hands down the BALLZ for removing dirt, oil and grime from your bike. Purple Power is really concentrated, as it will actually make aluminum shine like new. I would not use full strength Purple Power on painted bodywork. Spray the stuff on, let it sit for about 5 min, then hose it off. Don't leave Purple power on too long, as it can taint the aluminum surface. Try it !!

Rich I love this stuff too. Been using it for a while and you're absolutely right. It simply kicks Simple Green's butt. However I would suggest NOT using it on your black motors. Sure it will take whatever nasty grime and oil that's on it right off but it also leaves a white haze on th paint that's is a royal SOB to get off. But for everything else, it's the cats ass! Btw Advance Auto sells it at least around here for about 7 bucks for a gallon jug. I bought one last spring and still have about a half gallon left.

Do NOT confuse this stuff with the Industrial Purple stuff by ZEP, that you can buy at Home Depot. That stuff will immediately oxidize the crap out of aluminum, assuring you many, many hard hours of cleaning in order to remove said oxidation. Alkali chemical reactions for the loss.

I dont like it, when it gets on your hands, it tears up your skin and makes it flake. I prefer simple green maximum strength. I was buying it at ace hardware, but they stopped carrying it. I cant find it anywhere now.

I feel your pain. I used that stuff and I thought I was going to be shipped off to a leper colony. Ugh.

I got some simple green at Kmart...

I haven't had any issues with Purple Power eating at my skin. It did however take all of the carbon buildup off my pistons with 0 scrubbing. This stuff works great and I got it at Walmart for $4 a gallon.

It works great, but I really don't like the pain involved with using it- made my hands raw and red like a sunburn. Make sure you dilute it.

Seriously? Why in the world would you want to work with chemicals, without wearing gloves? Am I the odd one? I usually don a new pair of blue nitrile gloves every time I do anything on the bike, or anytime I'm mixing chemicals. Once they're in the spray bottles and diluted, I'm usually in the clear.

Yeah I use gloves too but they were vinyl, mistake. After a couple minutes I felt a soapy wetness inside the gloves but passed it off as sweat. Turns out it passed through the glove and it was the alkaline detergent breaking down the fatty cell tissue of my skin. Since I'm ghost white my hands turned raw red, the same when I stand outside in the sun unprotected for an hour
