    What the Seller Said

He was a little snippy, but that is not unexpected

    Dear posplayr,

I have only had one gt750 which was red a 1975,and I represented it well, and the buyer seemed happy, and never complained.I do not recall his name, but do remember he lived in Illinois.I don't belong to the gsr club,so he may be confused about who he bought it from.If it was me,then I really don't know why he would take the bike and then complain. The bike was a 9 out of 10,got lots of looks, and ran well.I guess you cannot please everyone. On that note,if you see anything that you don't like on my auction, then please do not bid and save us both the headache.Dennis

      Say What?

His response proves that he is full of it or cerebrally deficient. Proof: I got a title, so being confused about who I got it from is ludicrous. There are very, very few "9 of 10" machines like this out there. This isn't one of them.....for now. I know this as I actually do have bikes that are entered in shows (1st place) and am a collector and restorer. A fellow GSR member has visited my shop and has seen my bikes, so it's not a line. He may have convinced you on this, but not me. After all, who in the hell repairs a cracked vintage Hondaline fairing with with zip ties? "I got it from a guy I went to high school with who got it from someone else." Uh, right.

I took it down the street and back in the rain. IT DID NOT RUN WELL, as it had pod filters on it and it began running on one cylinder. I was only satisfied, not seemingly happy (as he claims) after driving 11 hours. That issue was easy to live with. It's the hidden BS (like his eBay bio) that was later discovered that gets my goat.

Thanks, Jim. Your assistance in reinforcing his place in the motorcycling world is appreciated. Since I do have his address, I just might fire off a note to him to realign his memory. I didn't live in Illinois.

I've been lurking on this but, I think its getting personal. It went from a buyer beware to a competition of who is right and who is wrong.

Point taken is that: Be cautious when buying from this seller as past experiences with a GSR member has been less than satisfying.

To simply not buy from the guy because of a past experience is not going to justify current situations and/ or factors that people change and he may or may not have been contacted by previous interested buyers about his practices of selling.

Its a risk, as with all online auctions or listings. Sometimes you get screwed, its life. Personal experiences regarding sellers help eliminate some of the risk but ultimately it will be the individuals choice.

Well, it sounds like there are alot of other issues than just the ones you mentioned in the first couple of posts (at least from what I remember). When you drive 11 hours to pick up a bike, you really have to put your trust into the seller as I know it would have to be really bad for me to go 11 hours and then turn around empty handed . It sounds like seller was a little optimistic about the bike but not so bad to have you turn around from what you could see in the dark rainy nite.

What can I say, you live and you learn

This is alot less money that your bike, but it still irks me none the less. I bought a set of wheel from a TOP SELLER at gixxer.com. He gave me a top price and would not budge. I told him I was willing to pay it if they were nice wheels commensurate with the high price I was paying. In other words since I was paying top dollar, they should be about the best wheels I would find. Turns out they were about the worst wheels I have bought yet and for the most money yet .

            Movin' On

You're right, Ranger. Lying in business is getting personal and we sometimes do get screwed by the Mr. Haneys out there.

I feel that I've exposed you guys to enough of this crap and will migrate into the mano y mano arena with this guy.

              Educated

You're so right, Jim. I did live and learn with this purchase. Did you get the wheel deal get straightened out? I hope so.

I thought that I'd let you know that on the way back home with the GT on I80 in Illinois, I hit a huuuuge chuckhole at a bridge joint that was caused by the enormous amount of rain. It wasted an aluminum front wheel, tie rod, and tire. The side of my truck was dented up from the tire carcass slapping around. The jolt was so bad that the bike's back end shifted way over onto a wheel well. 'Glad I had good tie-downs! Being road burnt at ten p.m. and having that happen was definitely an adrenaline rush event that wasn't too welcomed. The coffee didn't help much, especially when it flew out of the cup holder and onto my leg. I got legal with the state and it paid for the damage, so overall, it wasn't all that bad. Then there's the now hilarious story of my trip to Colorado Springs to buy a KZ1000J with a friend who decided to develop a bad kidneystone problem...................

No I just groused about it.

When I got them they looked OK with a quick look so I said to the seller they were OK. Then later noticed some not so nice stuff (filed road rash). And then even later when I spun them was the real surprise not so true after all.

I was ****ed because the seller would certainly know these were not the best wheels he had ever seen and far from it, but now it is a matter of opinion of what he would expect v.s me so I did not care to have that conversation.

He did say he was concerned about selling to me, but I said I was not looking for mint just good. Everybody has a different opinion on what that is.

                  Expectations

I can only feel comfortable buying things non-electrical or without moving parts from a seller on eBay.

What I've come to recognize is that a whole lot of sellers, particularly on CL, seem to have a higher opinion or are just stupidly proud of what they are trying to unload. This is evident in some of the attached photos. I mean some machines are just hideous to the point where I have to look away while clicking off of the posting.

You are very obviously a **** disturber who lacks the intellignece to asure a proper online transaction, and the dignity to live down the demise of a bad one caused by your own shortcomings.

In my last post, I don't recall mentioning a particular individual, nor a specific transaction, mein Herr. Now, pay attention to this. Your unwelcomed and unqualified condescendence is very much in contrast to the level headed postings by the rest of us on this site.

Did I strike a nerve as you may be just one of the squirrels that posts hacked and rattle-canned garbage on the net?

Your a clas A jerk coming on a website slandering a person with an unblemished record only in an effort to exact a meaningless revenge.

Dig deeper in your thesauras if you want to imnpress your self.

Rest assured you will impress no one else. Pathetic sore guy who could not make an effective deal.

I hope you spin a bearing and have other mechanical faults unrelated to the seller befall your almost 40 yr old bike.

Well, your tenure as a GSR member is starting off with a bang. What is it now, a whole week?

Your tenure as a student should be a life long one, because it's obvious that you need it. Listen and learn, kid.

You might have learned how to use the IGNORE feature but you don't have the ability to have anyone banned. If anyone has ever deserved to be banned it's probably me, and I'm still here.
