Please avoid Earl's AN plumbing for SS brake line parts...

Unfortunately, I have run into a problem with Earl’s AN plumbing, a supplier of SS brake lines & fittings that has been touted here on this forum.

Do yourself a favor & DO NOT conduct any business with these guys.

My issue stems from a relatively “tame” transaction I initiated with them a couple of weeks ago, in which they seemingly cannot figure out which parts I have ordered. To compound the problem, I have repeatability heard from them, “the parts have been ordered & are expected at any time…”

This of course is complete BS, and when I voiced my displeasure they sent me an e-mail saying my order has been cancelled. Here’s the message they had the gall to send me, because I complained about their poor customer service – please note, I did not rant, nor rage about the poor service I felt I was getting, I merely told them I was unhappy and would not buy from them again:

“MIKE I SHUT YOUR ACCOUNT OFF AND ISSUED A FULL REFUND. THE PARTS ARE TOO SCARCE THIS TIME OF YEAR TO WASTE ON SOMEONE WHO ABUSES OUR STAFF AND IS NOT APPRECIATIVE OF US TRYING TO FILL SHORTAGE ITEMS. YOU ARE WELCOME TO PURCHASE FROM SUMMITT RACING AND PAY HIGHER PRICES AND ABUSE THEM. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DEAL WITH YOU.”

This was their response to my e-mail asking for an update to my order status.

I might add I received half of the fittings I needed to make-up the SS brake lines for my ’85 550E, and now they will not send me the balance of the parts I had ordered because I complained, so essentially I have spent money for nothing… very frustrating.

This of course is the abbreviated version of this mess – for those interested in copies of the e-mail exchanges, please PM me, and you can decide for yourself..

In any event, these guys do not know what customer service is, and have accused me of abusing their staff (?) about this order. I have asked for specifics regarding this “abuse” and even suggested they have made a mistake in this matter. Their response was:

    Mike

not a mistake, you are out. good luck

    Tom

So, beware!! You may have similar issues if you decide to buy from Earl’s AN plumbing. The funny part is (as I explained to this “Tom” guy) is I have bought from them in the past without incident, & was very happy with their products, and have actually recommended them to other GS Resources members.

I don’t know exactly what “set him off”. But I suspect it was when I explained to his associate that I was dissatisfied with their service.

I have also asked for the name & contact info of the owner so I could appeal to him (her) about this matter - to date, I have received nothing from them...

Anyway, steer clear of these yahoos – it’s not worth dealing with them…

Wow Mike! The dude snapped. Sorry I recommended them.

I'll amend the SS brake line thread to steer away from AN Plumbing. There are lots of other suppliers of these parts including Amazon.

Go file a complaint. I'm sure the owner will hear about it if you use the BBB.

Whoops...I ordered my lines from Earls last week and received most of my order - 3 of the hose ends are on back order. I guess we'll see if I receive the balance of my order or not...thanks for sharing, Mike - sucks to hear about your experience

Put up a disclaimer on the brake line thread to shop around.

+2 for these guys. I ordered them based on your recommendation, and extremely satisfied with them. I didn't trust myself to make my own SS lines, too much fear of a catastrophic failure at speed. Paragon had a full kit, was great to deal with, and no more expensive than replacing the lines with OEM rubber ones would have been.

So who are we avoiding here? Exactly where and how and from whom did you order? Show us the mean man who hurt your feelings...

I know Earl's as a local shop, located in Speedway not far from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They don't have online ordering.

And yes, the store is a wonderland chock full of expensive temptations. Their service is excellent, but you have to go there.

And yes, it helps to be aware that their primary market is race teams doing many thousands of dollars of business, not your wee motorcycle project, so there's a certain, shall we say, ruthless efficiency when you talk with them. (It's best to know exactly what you want or bring your parts with you.) But I don't think they're the people you dealt with.

There's a site based in California called anplumbing dot com that sells Earl's Performance Plumbing parts, and there are several other vendors who sell Earl's goodies (they mentioned Summit).

So who, exactly, did you deal with?

I'd also like to know exactly who the order was with because FWIW....

I placed an order with the anplumbing dot com people and one day after I placed my order they called me to tell me that they would not have the adjustable ends in stock for another week and they would send two shipments at no additional cost if I am in a hurry to get the parts. I told them that I could wait and they had the parts to me in a timely manor so I thought those people had pretty good customer service from my experience.

The problem is with AN Plumbing. I believe Mike went there at my recommendation as I provided a link in the thread on how to make your own brake lines. . http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum...d.php?t=114521

I've met this Tom guy before and while he seemed a little odd, I'm flabbergasted by his attack. He runs the store which was started by his father.

I feel bad for Mike, and I'm sorry for what happened.

Earl's makes high quality parts so I still recommend them, only please be selective in where you get them.
