Thanks Rich. The one thing I should start doing is take before and after pics of the bowl areas and the oputer condition. Glad you happy with work.
I strive to go that extar mile and clean everything as meticulously as if they were going on my own bike.
My philosopht is this: "If it was me paying for the job, I would want someone to care about my stuff too." So thats what I strive for in anything I do for a customer.Last edited by chuck hahn; 05-08-2013, 09:03 AM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Well done Chuck... Just out of curiosity, what does it cost to ship a set of carbs inside of the US ?Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time1983 GS 750

Average set of VMs thru the mUSPS is around 20 bucks..give or take a dollar or two. Weight and package dimensions are the factors they go by.
I always tell a potential customer to go the extra few dollars for a well padded set of carbs in a slioghtly bigger box. These carbs arent that rare, but then again not an on the shelf parts supply out there either. best to err on the side of caution.
Those were VM33s that Rich had done. I stripped and repainted the tops, new Robert Barr orings, new bowl gaskets, and I had to hunt down new jet holder washers. Total cost WITH parts was $174.00 Rich had sent a return UPS label with the carbs, so that was real nice that shipping was covered.
Hope to be of service to anyone here. Just send me a PM. I also do a heck of a nice job on polishing engine covers..HINT HINT!!Last edited by chuck hahn; 05-08-2013, 09:19 AM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

The one top had a huge ding in it and they were all void of the original paint ( just chipped patches here and there ). I redid them with VHT hight temp gloss black and baked them for 2 hrs at 250 degrees.
The baking makes it chemical RESISTANT and hardens the paint for better scratch resistance as well. I use high temp also because of all the engine heat thats getting pushed back around them from the jugs.
I use green dish scrubbies and go into the throats and scrub the bores and slide towers to get them as clean and nice as I can. This, I feel, ensures smooth movement of the slides and air moving into the intake and thru the carbs themselves. I am a freak when it comes to having CLEAN carbs...HA HA.Last edited by chuck hahn; 05-08-2013, 09:18 AM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

For all the money to buy one and the BS of fiddling with this or that "solution" isnt worth my time of day. Berrymans has been working for the last 60 years or so..so if it aint broke..dont fix it.
cleaner than factory
oh, and they are cheap as hell to buy nowadays, for a 2 carb size.....1978 GS1085.
