One of the respected Guru's on the FZ1 site that does a lot of customer carb and suspension work was saying he takes the internals (jets, needles, floats etc) out of the bodies and ultra-sonic cleans those components and then uses Yamaha Combustion Chamber cleaner and compressed air on the bodies after they have been stripped of external rubber and plastic hoses and pieces. It looked like from his photos that he uses the small HF unit.
Is there a reason why we wouldn't want to ultra-sonic clean the carb bodies and the internal passages? I wonder if its because he doesn't own a larger ultra sonic unit and that's whats driving his procedures.
Seems like the other stuff (needles, jets, floats) are all pretty easy to visually inspect and clean. Its the internal passages that I seem to have problems with.

Does yours make a high pitched sound when operating?
I purchased this unit, it's all stainless and comes with a metal basket, it's just barely big enough to fit a disassembled CV carb in the basket.
I am thinking of swapping it for the 6L model.
My unit makes a very loud annoying noise when running, I don't remember the one we had in our old shop making any noise.
Anyone else have a noisy unit or are they normally silent or very quiet when running?

I could see the crud coming out of the carb almost immediately and it had been cleaned in simple green and dipped in Berryman's 2-3 times at least.
I also did a seat lock that was so full of gunk the key would hardly go in, after 15 mins. in the tank it worked perfectly.
They are so useful, wish I had this when I started my rebuilds and I should have just bought the 30L and be done with it.
Cheers,

Re buzzing and cats.
Funny thing about mine is not loud at all and the cats don't even notice it that I've seen.
