Excellent! Thanks for posting that. I've finally learned what the 11E really produces at the rear wheel, despite 'manufacturer's claim' of 108 hp. It's 86.6, still the most powerful of it's day.

Nice to know that mine, with pipe, pods and proper jetting, makes 99.3.

2016 XL883L sigpic Two-tone blue and white. Almost 42 hp! Status: destroyed, now owned by the insurance company. The hole in my memory starts an hour before the accident and ends 24 hours after.

Happy that it's appreciated. The 'algorithm' serves up this stuff to me, just to prove to me, I suspect, what a vintage Suzuki tragic I actually am.

The '70's were really "corny", but damn, you could get away with anything back then. I can't believe the stuff I got away with, how many cops I didn't bother stopping from, they couldn't even radio to each other, let alone "town to town". Once out of sight, a couple of left and right turns, and I;d see the cop with his lights still on going the opposite direction, oblivious it was me he was chasing. You could (in Connecticut) pull over anywhere, get a campfire going, and sleep under the stars, nobody bothered you. Now, forgetabout it, the cops come out in force and treat you like a terrorist. I remember walking through the woods with my Ruger 10-22 hunting Rabbits, and coming up on a another guy with a rifle, and saying "Hi!", we were just a couple of people doing the same thing. Now, I take my rifles out, and I have them in a case, and it's so limited where you can shoot. Everyone is afraid. I'm 65, my time is coming, I've lived through a strange time period, some of it sucked, but most of it was great. No regrets.

I'd always taken the makers' claims to be crankshaft HP anyway. Sneakily unadorned with HP-sapping accessories like generators, etc.
Certainly, in the last years of the 70s and into the 80s 100bhp/Litre was a common enough bare engine figure for the UJM engine.
