    Got a 3 wheeler today

Was simply walking minding my own busness then BAM!!! Right knew bent backwards instead of the noramal direction. So ER said severe hyperextention sprain. Got a big dose of pain meds via a shot, bunch of prescription pain and antiinflamatory drugs, leg in an imobilizer. Buddy had a 3 wheeler walker with rubber tires and hand breaks which will be needed for at least a few weeks. So here i set in the recliner trying to do as little as possible for a few days. I dont think im doing that AGING GRACEFULLY buls@@t right.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Rest up Chuck... weird injury! Maybe try getting some PT for that knee... my ankle used to do something similar, the PT said it was a weakness from an old injury. The PT made a big difference in stabilizing it.

I bet hanging out in the lounge chair will last for...2 days before you're back out in the shop wondering what you can do from a sitting position. Got any small parts that need polishing..? Get well, Chuck.

Well Chuck, that sucks but you already know that. LOL. Yeah, lay low for a bit and see how it feels then PT as mentioned. Bunged a shoulder up 18 months ago mountain biking and whined about it for several months before the wife kicked my ass over to PT and within days it was 90% better. As for getting old gracefully it a can be ....well ....tricky. Heal up my friend.

I would definitely ask your PCP to send you to an Orthopedic Specialist.

Sounds like you tore one of the ligaments in the knee. I had a torn ACL that occurred in my youth. Likely from a combination of dirt bike/three wheeler accidents, football and just youthful nonsense. Bothered me for a long time but I never got is fixed until I was 30 and carrying my newborn son down the stairs, my knee buckled, and fortunately I fell backwards onto my butt instead of headfirst down the stairs. Could have been tragic. Went to the doctor that week, then MRI to determine that I did not have an intact ACL.

Surgery used a patellar tendon graft (my own, as opposed to a cadaver graft). pretty neat actually, The created a new ligament from bone plugs from the tibia and femur with connecting material from the patellar tendon. Drilled new holes where the ACL used to attach then inserted the new graft w/ screws to secure. I was under an epidural, so numb from the waist down. I got to watch the surgery on TV, until I fell asleep. I remember being jerked around and a lot of drilling and hammering. They cleaned up some torn meniscus while they were in there.

Rehab was not fun. I absolutely hated the Percocet I was prescribed post-surgery. Took myself off that in favor of IB 800mg. But I am glad I had the surgery. That was 2001. I had another minor knee surgery around 2006 to clean up some more torn meniscus that was causing my knee to lock up.

Hope all goes well for you, Chuck.

Getting old sucks, as I think most of us here know. It still beats the alternative. (At least, I think it does.) I fractured my pelvis driving my 1100e into the side of a Chrysler back in 86. Never did get all the way over that. I'm guessing most of us here have stories to tell about injuries and hospitals. I sure hope you recover well, and relatively painlessly. Doctors can do miracles these days. As I've said for years now: What doesn't quite kill you, still hurts like hell.
