Having had an electronic repair shop for 10 years, I can tell you that the problems you are going to face with speed controllers, windings burning out, bearings, and a whole slew of other problems, E.V.'s aren't going to be the maintenance free car you may think they will be. I'll know how to fix that kind of stuff, I have O'Scopes and circuit tracers, in circuit capacitor testers (that you have to be licensed to own), but the average person or backyard mechanic won't. I do see an increasing I.C.E. parts industry booming as people keep their cars going, fixing them, converting them to propane, or doing any modification if necessary for synthetic fuel.

I don't know anyone who can afford a $100K pickup. I know people who lease trucks close to that amount, and are constantly looking for good used trucks so they can get out of their lease. I know a lot of people who lease E.V.'s and I.C.E. vehicles, and it costs them a lot. They rent condos, or apartments, and are paying off massive student loans for jobs that don't pay what they thought they would. I doubt they will ever be able to own a home, which is paying yourself rent, and getting all the equity from that process.

If I had a good back, using a Prius battery pack, I could make my own Hybrid, it's really not that hard to do, but you have to be in good physical strength to do that, so I'm going to build a trike within a couple of years. That may be an E.V., it depends on the consumer available parts that are becoming more and more available. With a hub motor, it could be 3 wheel drive too, which means, 1, 2, or 3 wheel drive, as you can turn the motors on and off, using the off ones a brakes for regenerative braking. Lots of possibilities.

I keep looking at the Zero DS as a possible intro ev bike. It would be great to use it to get from home to work and back, and maybe run some light trails and fire roads on the weekend. EVentually, I can see buying an ev touring bike.

It would be interesting if we could know why this guy doesn't own this EV bike with 7200 mi. any more, or why the owners of those EV's on the used car lots don't still own them... No doubt some will be very impressed while others not so much.

Same reasons there are so many low mileage, gas powered, used bikes for sale.

Yep, they weren't satisfied with what they had and wanted something else... It happens a lot and I'm always wondering the reason.

It might be the demographics of the region where you live and who you know. Where I live $100,000 pickups and cars are common and I know a number of people who think nothing of spending $1K on a bottle of wine (and buy a case of it), $5k on a handbag, $25k on a watch or $100k on a car. That's not me even if I can, though I had no issue drinking that wine

I was a local dealer a couple weeks ago many used bikes for a lot more than that. I think we only need Solid State batteries to arrive and we're there, range power and fast charge time.

We'll probably get a better idea when thats going to happen when we see Honda install SS batteries in it's cars. Honda is by far the worlds largest motorcycle producer will most likely be the 1st to introduce SS to motorcycles. Toyota has no interest in motorcycles.

I have a friend who is a chemist specializing in industrial contamination of waterways, he's given advice to countries all over the globe, China, Egypt, Russia, and here in Canada. I spoke to him about our local river system which he said was laden with toxins/carcinogens from open pit oil sand mining, that oil that's refined for fuel in ICE's. So it's just not 3rd world countries and toxins come from many industrial sources. I watched a documentary on denim processing in Indonesia a few years ago and how that's destroying some river systems, I'll bet everyone on this forum wears denim and none give a thought to the damage it causes the ecosystem in another country.

It's not up to us to police 3rd world countries industrial processes that's their issue and we don't have a right to deny them the resource income that will help them develop and become 1st world countries.

Massachusetts and Connecticut are at war with each other because of the Pollution Masschusetts allows to be dumped into the Housatonic River, and that flows right through the whole state of Connecticut, right out to the sound.

As far as policing anybody, posting what our selfish goals are and stating, posting links to what it is doing to other countries is no policing anybody. I don't know where that came from. How can with take the sliver out of someone's eye when we have a log in ours. We could police the pollution we are contributing to them, and ourselves.

I live in Connecticut, have you ever heard of the "Gold Coast". I have a few millionaire friends. They have more than a few times asked me to get in on solid investments (insider trading) and they make a fortune (to help me get more money), in that sense, they are generous, if they get caught, they're going to jail, but they never get caught.. I have a couple that always seek my company though I don't know why. I have nothing to offer them except conversation, and we do have some pretty good ones.

They just aren't people who's presence I enjoy. I know a lot of people like that, and it has nothing to do with how much or little money they have. In Greenwich, Ct. they get those pickups to their Gardeners. They wouldn't actually drive such a vehicle.

Yes, I do, if they needed something, and reached out to me, I would help them. They are not close friends, for my part. I take nothing from them, not even their time. I do not require people to call me when they wish to visit, so sometimes they just show up. Never knowing what someone might need, I am reticent to turn people away. On one such occasion, a person was considering suicide. Having worked in this field, I stayed with him through his immediate crisis, then had him call someone and make an appointment with a shrink I knew to make sure he did not have a chemical imbalance, or something out of my "pay grade" was going on. This wasn't a "close friend", but someone I knew close enough to wish help if he reached out. That is possible. It would be better if people were more open to just being nice. It all turned out well, for not much effort on my part. You don't have to be butt buddies to help each other out. IMHO.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming. These are cool:

So much to learn. It says has onboard charger with rapid charging time at home, I thought plug in to a 110V plug and it will charge itself, read farther then said you have to find a level 2 charging station... I guess in the future we'll all know about this stuff, just like pumping gas today.

It hasn't really changed in many years. All EVs work with a Level 1 charger, which is 110V, but it is slow. A level 2 charger uses 220V and is fast enough to charge a car overnight, 8-10 hours, or a bike in a couple hours (because of the smaller capacity). DC Fast chargers are the quick ones. 80% full in about 30 minutes, depending on the vehicle.

                                And now you know....
