Bike ID Required

After a Id on this one please, no tank, seat or plastics available. The owner hasn't responded to me as yet for the compliance plate details.

Any help is appreciated and I'm hoping to be back on a GS real soon!

Let's see...........It's pre '80 (the brakes are not slotted) The front fender is from something else. 4 into1 exhaust (Not stock.) 2v per cylinder. Are those CV carbs? (Pre '80 bike should have pre '80- carbs.) Non stock handlebar. Dunno what that thing is where the tailpiece goes. somewhere on the engine there should be numbers cast showing displacemernt.

My best guess: A late "70s GS750E Or 550. Second guess: a Frankenbike.

I believe you may be right with the 550, all the 750s I found had a larger airbox where as this one has a shallow airbox. It is very cheap and would be a project obviously! As long as I can find all the parts for it.

I'm in Australia so we can do a check on a system to see if it is stolen etc

An early 550 would have a single disc up front. so it's a 750, or a Frankenbike (built up from whatever he had laying around} Don't think it's a 1000 because the exhaust pipes would be larger. Just guessing. But it's a Suzuki, Thta's all I can say for sure, with just the one pic to go by.

Front fender is from an '81 GS650E.

The rear foot peg mounts may tell a little, thinking most, or all, pre "80"' GS's were not bolt on's

Hmmm.........hadn't thought of a 650. It could be. I couldn't tell if the rear brake is disc or drum.......drum brake on rear is likely a 550.
Need to check the numbers on the engine. GS55, GS65, GS75, etc. That ought be a fun project, enjoy yerself with it.

I think the front disc (front end could be from other bike) are leading some astray when say the bike is pre 80....

THe carbs are CV carbs, so 80 or after.

Well it looks to of been sold on me, seller deletes the Ad and now refuses to comtact me after i asked for complaince plate info.... unfortunately still on the look put for my next GS.

To be honest I think you saved yourself a lot of hassle with that thing. Over here in the US that wouldn't even pass as a very good parts bike, let alone something worth restoring. I know there's a a tighter supply of bikes overseas so that may be a vvery US-biased view. Just my $.02

I don't mind restoring something, and it was very cheap for a bike here in Australia. GS used to be everywhere for sale and it is definitely a different market from when I bought my last bike 12 years ago.
