Likely not, I am sure it's beauty is skin deep thing, it's a auction after all and passion some times takes over.

            I took those pictures...
A fellow I know, well kind of know. Invited me to view his Katana collection.
            He lives in Willoughby Ohio.
He has a awesome collection of Katana's all with under 300 miles. Some with only 1 mile.
Not to mention his automobile collection.

I always thought, if we could get a group of 4 or 5 people together, I'd call to set up a time to visit.

It is truly amazing what people have squirreled away. I once had a chance to visit a guy in Flagstaff that had a collection of old Dakar Race bikes sitting in his garage.

Not mentioned much, but wondering if folks feel these Mecum, BAT, or Barrett Jackson prices are anywhere near to real world prices? Yes I do see 2 people did supposably bid that, but wondering if anybody who has an equal Yamaha Radian at his house could ever expect to sell it for $33,000. Not thinking all are off base but we see many that seem waaay off.

i would just mention new top of the line bikes range from 15k to 20k and the super sport stuff 30k. These restored/NOS bike prices at auctions are still in line with what a new bike would cost for the most part and haven't exceeded new bike prices yet even though more hard to come by.

There are a few exceptions like the Radian, but those are passion bids.

Do you think that Katana with the faults you pointed out, if sitting in your garage you could find somebody to pay you $16,500 for it? For me a real world price is what an average person could sell something for, and just me thinking, the big auction ###'s seem out of line from real world. I hope I'm wrong and bikes can fetch these prices.

I totally understand "passion bids"....but not on a bike that is for sale everywhere....it makes no sense

Stock pipes on the Kat for a start. That ups the price, as they are pretty much unobtainium.
