Hi to all, the fork outer tubes are now polished and clear-coated, the anti-dive lines are nice and tidy so now its time to waitout for the fork springs to be made. The supplier starts work on the 9th of Jan so I hope to have the springs in a week or two after the 9th and then, Stop! Katana Time!

I actually got in the garage tonight to start carving the knee pads out... tedious and painful! Not sure if it will be worth the effort or not...1982 GS450E - The Wee Beastie

Yesterday did carb. clean, brake service, cables and bunch of stuff on a 1984 Honda Big Red. ATC.
Today sorting some Fellows Gear Shaper helical gear cutters for sale on EBay. Thought this old Fellows film (before video as in the Leave It To Beaver TV series quoted by Salty Monk) on gear pattern engagement & cutting might be of interest to someone.
One of four parts of a video made by the Fellows gear shaper corporation in Springfield Vermont. This video explains the complex shape of gear teeth in an eas...
There seems to be misunderstanding regarding tooth engagement and spur versus helical tooth types so this might be a beginning for someone. It doesn't deal in detail but provides a nice over view.
Modern production is often very different as sintering and other processes have taken over.

Frank and I did a tutorial on the basics of brake caliper teardown and rebuilding. We also put then tank for the 78 1000C back together. We had to solder new connections to the sending unit to plug it into the wiring harness. Got the bike fired up after about a 4 month downtime.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Back tracked to see why my fuel guage on the 78 1000 C had stopped working. Circuit tester had a good light all the way to the wire that goes from the waffle board to the pass thru hub on the base plate. But at the waffle board end of the wire is where the continuity stopped....so I had to solder a new wire in from the waffle board to the pass thru thingy and now all is good again.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

Mindless
Did quite a bit of work on the Mk.II last night. Gonna try and finish up the rear end this weekend (new shockmounts and finish up the bracing).
Braces mocked up.
Cleaned up and tacked into place.
